The environment has always been a key part of my life. Of course it should be, because it’s my home! I grew up in Ontario, in the country with gardens and farms, and lived in an area where I actually saw the hurt the air pollution the quarry nearby my house caused my neighbours. As I grew up and moved around, I saw the different effects things do to animals and my home. I’ve always been a firm advocate in helping the environment, because if I don’t, who will? My father helped me from a young age to learn that we only have one shot, and that our Mother Earth is precious to every person, religion, and species. It affects me too right? I joined The Eco Team in my graduating year, in hopes of learning more ways to help and teach others about the environment and its long continuous toil from mankind.  Can’t wait to see what’s next! We can do it!

Hi, my name is Amy and I am a proud member of the Eco-team. I joined the Eco-team when I was in grade 8 because I love this planet and I want to preserve it for future generations. I am in grade nine now and my favourite hobbies are: horseback riding, swimming, reading, and recycling!!

The Eco-Team is just a great group of people doing what's
right for the environment, and I think everyone should know that.
I joined because I wanted to make some change eco-wise in the
world and also because it felt like I belonged there.
Sometimes it's not always easy to belong.

After feeling a little helpless and apathetic with the plethora of world issues, I started trying to find ways to make a difference. I first heard about and joined the Eco-Team in grade 10 and instantly felt welcome and loved by all the earthlings. We're a big fuzzy, earth-loving family all doing our part to look after our home. We are all mobilizers of change both locally and globally, and I can't wait to continue this awesome path to a better world with the coolest people around.

I joined the Eco-Team because Miss Peacock and her students inspired me to help make a difference.  I believe in the great work the Eco-Team does and I feel that if eco conscious attitudes are instilled in kids while they are young they will carry them into adulthood.

Joining the Eco-Team was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made at school. I remember first walking into the unknowns of Mrs. P’s room and instantly feeling at home. I’ve met so many great, like minded, fun and passionate people through Eco-Team and have made tons of wonderful memories with them. Whether we are churning up the compost or learning the “Paddle Dance and Song” with the Kumugwe first nation’s group, my time with the Eco-Team is worthwhile and rewarding. Our natural world, particularly the oceans has always been a deep passion of mine. SCUBA Diving has brought me closer to the wonders of our waters and I strive to do everything I can to preserve life here and promote others to as well. I feel that the work we do on the Eco-Team helps and inspires me to do my everyday part for the environment. Little by little, we can all put forth positive actions and mould the world into a more peaceful, healthy and harmonious place to be. Over and out Earthlings!

My loves! I hope you know as soon as I joined the Eco-Team, life has blossomed into a garden of environmental awareness and love. I believe that our only hope is that the more people we have making a difference, the bigger and better our garden will grow into a beautiful world where we all understand that what we do affects the environment, and we have the power to change it.

However I am quite addicted to tea and coffee… I like making bracelets , maybe if you join I'll make you one ;)

My name is Kristy Lloyd, I am 14, and I joined the Eco-Team because I feel that I need to do as much as I can to protect the world we live in. Unfortunately I cannot do that much so I am starting with our town and school. I am a big nature lover and to see all the garbage lying around and all the broom and weeds just kills me inside and makes me want to do something. I also love animals, and knowing I can do something about saving the north east woods and cleaning up is a huge reason I joined the Eco-Team.

The Eco-Team is such a warm inviting group of people. Though one of the younger ones, I instantly felt at home with my fellow earth lovers. We do what we can to help the environment, and have so much fun doing it! The eco-team is a great choice for me, because I felt like I needed to make a difference. We pull broom, make petitions to save forests, and take out compost to name a few things, and have so much fun!

Eco-Team is such a proud part of my school and community I couldn’t help but want to participate in the incredible activities and student eco-conscience here at Highland. I wear my party pants so I'm always ready to party.

I've always been an avid recycler as well as a constant composter, and was thrilled to find a warm and welcoming group like the Eco-Team where I could help to change the views of our school concerning environmental awareness. It has been an honour working along side the team helping to shape not only Highland, but the community aswell, into a caring ecologically aware society. Go Earthlings!

I joined the eco team because I enjoy long walks on the beach and am seeking someone who is funny yet sensitive with a kind and honest heart.

I joined the eco-team when my friend, who was already involved, just wouldn’t be quiet about it she talked about it all the time, so eventually I felt like I had to check it out! I came for a meeting and immediately felt at home, so many like-minded people all there for the same reasons. I’m really excited to get started on the new year, see you all there on Mondays!"

I recently joined the eco-team but being environmentally friendly has always been important to me. I joined the eco-team because I believe in creating a sustainable culture at Highland Secondary. My favourite part of the Eco-Team is composting and working in the garden.  I love animals (especially bunnies), recycling and pink.
